I am a marketer, social media connoisseur, communications expert, experienced event host, webinar and workshop facilitator, and public speaker. I seek to give readers of The Trendy Socialite blog an insider view of all things fabulous. The Trendy Socialite was born after I took a style quiz in the book, The Budget Fashionista. The mission of the Trendy Socialite is to help stylish, discriminating women look past the haute couture in magazines and online and seek to create their own couture.
I am a Youtube vlogger and blogger, primarily focusing on natural hair care and styling and fashion (especially thrifted or vintage fashion). Those who follow the blog are trendy because they create trends, not just follow them. They are socialites because they are actively engaged in their communities, plugged into and active participants in this global society. True to the “socialite” part of my brand, I also host natural hair meet ups.
In 2012, I created and founded International Natural Hair Meetup Day (INHMD). It is the #1 and largest one-day natural hair event where events are held all over the country (and internationally) to celebrate the beauty, versatility and awesomeness of natural hair. Its purpose is to allow the opportunity for women across the country to meet in their own communities while networking, sharing and meeting (virtually) other women across the country participating in meetups on the same day. Natural hair meetups are events designed to share information, techniques, inspiration and products to aid individuals in their natural hair journey.
In 2013, I created iGrind Naturally, a community of bloggers, vloggers, business owners and event planners in the natural hair, beauty, fashion and wellness communities. In this exclusive FaceBook group, I think of iGrind as one of those community office spaces designed for start-ups. We share resources, tips and best practices as we individually work on our own “grinds.”
I am committed to reinstituting values, style and class many have forgotten. The Trendy Socialite woman has manners, style, grace and elegance. I seek to influence and encourage other women in all of my interactions–online, in person, through my sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. or through championing the social cause of Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention.
When I think no one is looking, I sing loudly in my car and I am never, ever far away from Twitter or Instagram (@trendysocialite).
Nice bio…but what do you do?
For my “bread and butter,” I work in the Marketing Department at a University. After hours and on weekends, I seek to inform and inspire people through events, webinars and speaking engagements. I host natural hair events and networking events for aspiring, emerging and established entrepreneurs. I conduct webinars throughout the year on subjects related to event planning, branding, networking, etc. I also host events and present workshops.
You can also get a feel for who I am here.
What qualifies you to do what you do?
Good question. My college degree is in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations. In addition to my degree, I have over 14 years of Corporate, Religious, Wedding and Special Event Event Planning Experience. I am an avid reader and always seek ways to improve myself, hone my craft and continue to share information with others.
Sounds Cool…but how can you help me?
If you are a blogger, vlogger, event planner or business owner, my blog posts, webinars and events such as the iGrind Naturally Coffee Chat will give you invaluable information to help maintain your momentum and take your plans to new dimensions.
Cooler…so what makes you different from others who do similar things?
Other than my infectious personality (smile)?
For my fellow naturalistas, I share my recommendations and my personal regimen to help you create your own. Yes, I am product junkie. But you can live vicariously through my PJism and hopefully find some products that work for you in your own journey.
For those looking to build your brand or business, I am a process-oriented thinker that can give you suggestions on the best process to accomplish a goal–whether it is a natural hair goal or business goal. Through the questions I ask and insight I have, I am able to give you unique ideas that are tailored to your needs. I have unique audience insight, that will give you. Also for those of you that provide services in the natural hair community, as a consumer, attendee and fellow service provider, I understand and know the majority of the audience we serve and can tailor the guidance and advice to your needs.
Ok, I’m sold. What do I do now?
Yay! I am glad you want to get to know more about me and the information and services I provide.
Are we connected online? Go to my contact page and follow me. I love connecting with you and talking to you online!
If you’re a fellow naturalista, please subscribe to my YouTube channel and follow me on Instagram (@trendysocialite). I post a lot of things related to my regimen and hairstyles on those two platforms.
